Ryan and Puempel shine in Senators win September 25, 2014

It may have only been a preseason game, but the Senators 3-2 win over the Maple Leafs on Wednesday should leave a lasting impression on the team’s confidence, thanks to a two-goal performance by Bobby Ryan. The 27-year-old, who is coming off a sports hernia operation this past spring, will be looked upon to lead the Sens attack this coming season. Another bright spot was the contribution of Matt Puempel, who scored Ottawa’s other goal.  Drafted 24th overall in 2011, the 21-year-old has been impressive in training camp thus far, as he looks to build off of a 30-goal campaign in the AHL last year.
