Steel impresses at World Junior Showcase August 18, 2017
Team Canada hopeful Sam Steel was one of the top skaters at this year’s World Junior Summer Showcase, which took place in Plymouth, Michigan this August. A 30th overall pick by the Anaheim Ducks in last year’s draft, the 19-year-old Steel missed out on last year’s World Junior Championships, which he took as motivation to prove his worth. He did just that last season, leading the entire CHL in scoring with 131 points in just 66 games. Touted as one of the most skilled players on Team Canada’s squad, he will surely be one of the players to watch at the upcoming World Junior Championships in December.
