Taormina brings offensive flair to Canadiens’ organization August 25, 2017

Matt Taormina was signed in July by the Montreal Canadiens to a two-year deal, after impressing in the AHL Playoffs with the Calder Cup runner-up Syracuse Crunch. The 30-year-old led all AHL defensemen in points during the playoffs, tallying 20 points in 22 games.  He was equally impressive in the regular season, where he was named to the AHL All-Star team and won the Eddie Shore Award, the AHL’s version of the Norris Trophy. The Warren, Michigan-native has also featured in 59 NHL games throughout his career, registering 4 goals, 8 assists and a plus/minus rating of +3.
