Defensive scoring machine could be primed for big year August 16, 2013

Slowed by a sports hernia injury in 2011-12, Mike Green began to show signs in the second half of last season that he was beginning to hit his stride. After retuning from a groin injury, Green went on a run that saw him rack up 12 goals and 11 assists in his last 26 games (including playoffs).  There is no reason to believe that the now healthy defenseman will not continue to trend in the same direction, which surely will have the Capitals faithful excited for the upcoming season.
