Steel named Memorial Cup MVP May 28, 2018
Sam Steel was crowned the MVP of the Memorial Cup yesterday, after guiding his team all the way to the championship finale. The 20-year-old Ducks’ prospect led all players in points with 13 (2 goals, 11 assists) in just 5 games played. This included a record-tying performance during the round-robin segment of the tourney where he tallied an incredible 5 assists in a win versus the Swift Current Broncos. Steel, who will be turning pro this fall, was one of the CHL’s top performers during his time with the Regina Pats, amassing 338 points (123 goals, 215 assists) in 238 games played.
