Tkachuk to get a crack at 1st line duties in upcoming season June 26, 2018
Matthew Tkachuk will get a shot at becoming a 1st line regular for the Calgary Flames in 2018-19, after coach Bill Peters decided to move the 20-year-old rising star to the right wing. Tkachuk, who jumped immediately from the junior ranks to the NHL after being drafted 6th overall in 2016, has been a model of consistency through 2 seasons, tallying an impressive 97 points in 144 games played. Despite playing 8 less games in 2017-18, the robust winger set a new career-high in goals with 24 and points (49).
