Iginla to hang up his skates after brilliant NHL career July 25, 2018

Jarome Iginla will announce his retirement from the NHL at the end of July, after 20, star-studded seasons. The 41-year-old winger spent the majority of his career with the Calgary Flames, where he racked up franchise-highs in goals (525), points (1,095) and games played (1,219). The Edmonton, native will go down in history as one of the best power forwards to ever play the game. He finishes his career tied for 15th all-time in goals (625), and 13th in games played (1,554).

Iginla was captain of the Calgary Flames from 2003 to 2013, and was their leading scorer during a playoff run that took them all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2004. He won the Rocket Richard Trophy as the NHL’s leading scorer on two occasions (2002, 2004), and made six All-star appearances.
