Backes expects to be back to old self in 2018-19 August 17, 2018

David Backes feels like he and his team, the Boston Bruins, suffered an abnormal amount of bad luck last year, and he fully expects a reversal of fortunes this season. The 34-year-old center is currently plying his trade in a 4-on-4 summer league called the Da Beauty League, looking to get a head start, conditioning-wise, on the 2018-19 NHL season. Despite missing a career-high 25 games last year (he had never missed more than 10 since his rookie campaign), Backes ended the 2017-18 season on a high note, tallying 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) in the last 6 games leading up to the playoffs.
