NHL ANNOUNCES 2019/20 AWARD NOMINEES July 28, 2020
The NHL disclosed all of its award nominees for the 2019-20 season, with several Newport clients making the shortlist for some of its most prestigious trophies.
Ryan O’Reilly has been named one of the three finalists for the 2019-20 Selke Trophy, handed out to the NHL’s best defensive forward. The 29-year-old native of Clinton, Ontario is looking to become the back-to-back winner of the trophy for the first time since 2014-15.
The Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded to the player who best exemplified “the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey”, named its three finalists as well, with Bobby Ryan making the shortlist.
Up for nomination in a bid for the King Clancy Memorial trophy, no less than 9 Newport clients made the cut, including Justin Abdelkader, Matt Dumba, Evander Kane, Matt Martin, Henrik Lundqvist, Trevor Lewis, Ryan O’Reilly, PK Subban and Brady Tkachuk. Elsewhere,
O’Reilly was also named a finalist for the Lady Byng Trophy, an award he previously won back in the 2013-14 season.
