In a move that's sure to resonate with Detroit sports fans, defenseman Jeff Petry, a native of Ann Arbor, has made his return to the Motor City. The Detroit Red Wings announced today that they have acquired Petry from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Gustav Lindstrom and a conditional draft pick. The Petry name carries significant weight in Detroit's sports history, with Jeff's father, Dan Petry, having played a pivotal role in guiding the Detroit Tigers to a triumphant 1984 World Series victory. Now, stepping onto the ice with the Red Wings, Jeff Petry will be wearing the same iconic uniform number, 46, that his father proudly donned during his time with the Tigers.
