Leipsic guides Winterhawks to 2-0 series lead May 05, 2014

Brendan Leipsic was named the first star of the game last night, as the Portland Winterhawks beat the Edmonton Oil Kings 3-1 in game 2 of the WHL Ed Chynoweth Cup Finals. The Winnipeg-native had a goal and an assist in the victory, putting him 1 point off the scoring lead in the WHL playoffs with 29 points (13 goals, 16 assists). Drafted 89th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators, Leipsic was a major contributor in Portland’s run to the Memorial Cup last year, registering 24 points in 21 playoff games.
