Winnik signs on with the Maple Leafs July 28, 2014
After a two-year stint with the Anaheim Ducks, Daniel Winnik inked a one-year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs today. It is a return home for the 29-year-old forward, who was born and raised in Toronto. The last time Winnik played hockey for an Ontario-based team was way back in 2002-03, where he starred as a 17-year-old for the now defunct Wexford Raiders of the OPJHL. In 76 games last year for the Ducks, the gritty center set career highs in assists with 24, and points with 30.
