Karlsson a candidate for team captaincy August 19, 2014

With the Ottawa Senators entering the season in search of a captain, Erik Karlsson is ready to be the man if called upon.  In spite of the team struggling mightily in 2013-14, the 24-year-old D-man more than proved his worth, leading the team in assists (54), points (74), shots (257) and ice time (27:04).  Another good sign was the fact that he played all 82 games. The Swedish star went into last season as a bit of question mark, having suffered a scary Achilles tendon injury the year before.
