Karlsson named Senators' new captain October 02, 2014
All-star defenseman Erik Karlsson was named the Ottawa Senators captain today, making him the 9th captain in the team’s 22-year history. The Swedish dynamo has been a key component of the team’s success since he arrived in 2009, quickly becoming one of the top offensive D-man in the NHL. Besides leading the league in defenseman scoring on two occasions, Karlsson was named the recipient of the James Norris Memorial Trophy in 2012, the award given to the best defenseman in the league.
