Troy Timpano first goalie selected in 2013 OHL Draft June 11, 2013

He may not have been taken in the first round, but Troy Timpano still had a lot to be proud of as the first goaltender taken in the OHL draft this past April. Taken 27th overall, the native of Pickering, Ontario is expected to battle for the back-up role in the upcoming season.

Just 15 years old, Timpano put up electrifying numbers in his final year with the Toronto Titans of the Ontario Midget AAA league, posting a goals against average of 1.85, and a save percentage of .930.

One scout had this to say about the young goalie:

“He displays the tools that you look for in a potential starting goaltender at the OHL level. A fast, competitive butterfly goaltender who relies on his positioning and anticipation skills."

Timpano himself could not be happier about his new opportunity, and made a point of showing his allegiance to his new club by adding a Sudbury Wolves logo to his twitter account profile soon after he was selected.

Despite his age and relative inexperience compared to the other goalies currently on the Wolves roster, Timpano is ready to fight hard for ice time this fall.

"I'm going to train hard this summer and come into camp with the mindset that I'm going to get that position," Timpano said. "I'll do whatever I have to do."
