Brouwer to fill important role with the Calgary Flames July 05, 2016
Troy Brouwer came to terms with the Calgary Flames on a four-year, $18 million last Friday, a year removed from being traded by the Washington Capitals to the St. Louis Blues. First and foremost, the 30-year-old, big-bodied forward adds grittiness, physicality and leadership that the Flames sorely lack, but his on-ice qualities do not end there. The Vancouver-native has hovered around the 20-goal range for the majority of his career, and he proved to be a clutch performer in the 2016 Playoffs, tallying 8 goals and 5 assists in 20 games.
