Dumba rewarded with new contract extension July 29, 2016
2012 1st round pick Matt Dumba signed a two-year, $5.1 million contract extension with the Minnesota Wild on Thursday. Dumba, who turned 22 on Monday, is coming off of a breakout season that saw him set career-highs in a number of categories, including goals (10), points (26) and game played (81). The Regina, Saskatchewan native has made a smooth transition from junior to professional hockey, requiring very little seasoning in the AHL. Despite being the youngest defenseman on the Wild last year, Dumba’s average ice time was a very respectable 16:50 per game.
