Monahan signs 7-year extension August 19, 2016
Restricted free agent Sean Monahan and the Calgary Flames came to terms on a seven-year contract extension today, at a reported average annual value of $6.375 million. The 21-year-old star center has shown a steady improvement since entering the league in 2013-14, raising his point levels in each year (34, 62, 63). In 2015-16 he registered a career-high in assists with 36, and placed second on the Flames with 27 goals. The Brampton, Ontario-native will suit up for Team North America at the World Cup of Hockey in September.
