Blues name Pietrangelo new captain August 26, 2016

All-star defenseman Alex Pietrangelo was named the St. Louis Blues’ 21^st captain in team history yesterday. The 26-year-old will replace long-standing captain David Backes, who signed as a free agent with the Boston Bruins in July.  Pietrangelo, who has been an alternate captain with the Blues since 2011-12, will be entering his 7^th full season with the club.  Before then, the King City-native will be suiting up for Team Canada in the upcoming World Cup of Canada, which begins on September 17.
