Lundqvist records shutout in World Cup of Hockey debut September 21, 2016
Henrik Lundqvist shook off flu-like symptoms to make his goaltending debut at the World Cup of Hockey for Sweden, a 2-0 victory over Finland. The 34-year-old New York Rangers star steered aside all 36 shots he faced in the contest and would go on to be named the first star of the game. With Sweden now a win or overtime loss away from qualifying for the semifinals, Lundqvist is eager to start the team’s next game against Team North America to help book their place into the next round.
